This Christmas season, Derek Hough is rejoicing in his wife Hayley Erbert’s recuperation. On Monday, Derek Hough and Erbert posted a photo of themselves embracing in front of a Christmas tree on Instagram to extend warm wishes for the festive season. The couple, who tied the knot this year, are celebrating their first Christmas together in the wake of Erbert’s Skull Surgery. They shared “Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!” and more on instagram.
The pair announced their engagement in June of the previous year, and in August they were married. This upcoming Christmas will be their first as husband and wife, having been together since 2015 when they both starred in Dancing with the Stars. For the initial few years, they kept their relationship private until it was revealed on Instagram in 2017. Since then, they have kept their followers updated on their love story.
In early December, the duo embarked on a Symphony of Dance tour throughout the United States. During their D.C. show, Hayley Erbert was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma, which was caused by a ruptured blood vessel, necessitating an emergency craniectomy. As a result, Erbert underwent an emergency operation on the 7th of December.
Hough reported last Thursday that the skull surgery for Erbert went through “without a hitch” according to plan.
Hough expressed his profound gratitude to the remarkable medical personnel in an Instagram post. He highlighted the fact that their skill and steady hands made the surgery go smoothly and successfully. He especially thanked Dr. Mai, who not just executed the operation but also rescued her life two weeks ago.
He continued to express, “This medical procedure is a vital step in my wife’s healing process, and we are profoundly grateful for the assistance you have given us to reach this point.”
Prior to Erbert’s medical procedure, Hough had informed supporters that his spouse would have to receive a cranial implant.
The professional dancer recently informed followers on Instagram that the skull implant is designed to bring Erbert’s head back to its original shape and will provide protection for the brain in the event of injury.
Hough has kept the public in the loop regarding Erbert’s health since she underwent a craniectomy, and has expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support from his social media followers. He has given regular updates about her condition.
We have found solace and encouragement from the kind thoughts, prayers and good vibes sent to us during this difficult period, Hough stated Thursday. It is quite uplifting to realize how much affection and support is around us.
